Banks of Thailand
The banking system of Thailand dates back to 1851, when the issue of treasury notes began. At the end of the XIX century, banknotes were issued by the Bangkok branches of private banks: the Bank of Indochina, the Privileged Bank of India, Australia and China, the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation. In 1939, the Thai National Banking Bureau was established as a department of the Ministry of Finance. April 28, 1942 on the basis of the Bureau based state Bank of Siam. In 1949, the bank was renamed the Bank of Thailand.
